"Joseph Broussard (called BeauSoleil), one of the leaders of the Acadian resistance at the time of deportation, took refuge in Néguac. Active in the resistance, Beausoleil and his troops captured some seventeen British small ships in the waters of the Gulf of St. Lawrence in the summer of 1759."
